Code 311?

Code 311?
Have 92 with a 5.0 that has a slight miss pulled the codes and got 311 ,read it was thermactor air system /fault during engine run self test .Buddy told me to pull vacuum line off EGR and pulg valve and hose and drive it miss went away . Anybody have any suggestions of what it is EGR or solenoid to EGR ?

The thermactor system is the one that pumps air into the exhaust for the cats to help with emissions.
The egr is not monitored via this system and has its own codes. It sounds like you might have a partially stuck open EGR valve or faulty EVR. Do a search on EGR and EVR and I'm sure you'll come up with testing and cleaning procedures if you wish to repair it.
