I think so, it has the air box off to the left side (drivers side) with the two air tubes going over to the throttel bodie.Im not real familiar with fuel injection.

at the air box there needs to be a sensor that plugs into the 2 tubes. that would be a mass air sensor. if you dont have mass air you wont be able to run a 347 in your rig because the current efi setup you have is speed density and it wont handle the changes.

cheapest way would be to find a 460 and swap it for your 302. From what I remember they came stock with only 180 hp.

I really dont want to go with a big block.I guess if I have to I can trash the fuel injection and go with a carb for the 347 idea.

You can but the Explorers had "GT40" heads on them, and the bolt pattern for the exhaust is different than regular 302s. I would just find a 302 to build up and swap it in. That will ultimately be the easiest way.

Welcome to FTE!

So what can I do to the 302 thats in the truck now? can I bore it out, change the cam, mill the heads stuff like that.can I keep my fuel injection or do I have to get rid of it to do these things.I would prefer to keep the fuel injection, but if there is no alternative I guess I will go with a carburator. If the system on this truck wont handle the changes of a 347 how can it handle changing the 302?

you can do a few mods to the 302 with the stock computer but they wont be the type of gains your wanting. You can do a direct swap to a 5.8 which uses the same tranny and mounts even the same wiring harness off the motor. you would just need the proper ecu (easy to find) and flywheel/flexplate for your tranny and you would be done. that would gain you 40lbs torque right away. then with some simple mods like heads, headers, intake and cam you would be putting down some decent numbers all on the stock efi setup. and still have more then a 347 for half the cost.
if you are stuck on the 347 you would either have to swap to mass air or go carbed and if you have anytype of emissions testing and this rig would be also a DD then you can forget about going carbed. check out www.fordfuelinjection.com . as for the engine swap it easy and been done many times on here and full size bronco . com as well. do some searches

Thats suprising a SD 94, hmm wonder if its sefi. Either way its pretty straight forward with it being a 94 go here look it up for your area call them up ask if its mass air and get the whole harness computer, air box and tubes. I know it sounds complex but it isn't swapping to a 92 with a 94 harness is lots of cutting and soldering. After that you can build away I would go with a 331 over the 347 personally with hyper. pistons.

most mass air broncos of that year were cali only rigs. very few hit the streets till 95 when they were mass produced for all 50 states.

Talking

so to swap to a 5.8 I need to find the ecu from a truck with a 5.8.does it have to be a 94 model or will 95 96 work, does it matter if its a standerd or auto trans.is a 5.8 internaly or externaly balanced,im guessing externaly ,so can I have my flywheel balanced for a 5.8 or are they diferent?what kind of work to the heads, and what kind of cam do you recomend?the 5.8 sounds like a good idea Im going to see if I can locate one.thanks
