I was using my 92 f-350 DRW to pull a bunch of junk cars yesterday, each of them close to 4-5,000 lbs, plus trailer and crewcab dually, i was close to 15,000 lbs. I noticed on the last car, when pulling out that i could feel a good chatter in the rear end, but i dont have a posi. Brand new u-joints-3 of them on the driveshaft. When I backed up to unload, it was horrible. After unloading i started home with just the trailer, and never felt any chatter or vibration in the truck. I also just changed the gear oil a few months ago with some 85-140. the only chatter/vibration is right when im pulling out at a sharp turn, and loaded down. Is she on her last legs...lol
i would check for slack in the pinion shaft and maybe the steady berring on the drive shaft was the rear end out of oil when you serviced it
good luck

I would think you do have a limited slip axle and LS additive was not added in the gear oil change. Check your door post label for axle info and post it.
I pulled the cover again last night, and for some reason didnt see the clutches in there. there all there beside the spiders, with no additive. i didnt run her too many miles, so i added friction modifier, and ill see how it goes. And to think I work on Fords all day, everday...GEEZ
BTW when I last bought rear end oil, the shop had penzoil with the friction modifier built in. It was quite convient not having to add it seperatly. I was a little concerned that it might not be as good as the standard additive, but its been a couple of thousand miles and so far so good.
