1993 F150 4.9 Six Code Help
Help. I have a 1993 F150 4.9 that has a few issues. I had to replace the long block and my gas mileage went from 18 to 12 I had replaced the EGR valve, O2 sensor, egr position sensor and the thermostat(192 factory). My mileage still stinks and I have no power. I am now getting codes 33 and 53. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

33-EGR valve opening not detected. Could be the EVP sensor (on top of EGR) that could be bad or broken EGR valve diapghragm. If you have a vacuum pump, you can test the EGR valve by applying vacuum on the small port.
53-TPS above 4.5Volts. How is your idle? This is probably your mileage and power problem. Replace the TPS.
EDIT.
Also, have you ever removed and reinstalled the TPS? When installed, the TPS voltage must be set.

The timing should be 10° BTDC with the SPOUT connector removed. The SPOUT connector is located on the drivers side fender near the TFI module which is the thing in the heat sink. The SPOUT might be buried in tape, but it should be close by. My dad's truck was at 6 degrees when we checked it the other day, and now that it's at 10, he says it has much more power than it used to.
