i am at present still trying to figure out if I am going to use SCA or the 300,000 to 500,000 long life with no SCA needed.
David Spog. is my mentor on this site, and he recommennds the Ford additive along with Ford Heavy Duty topped off with distilled water. i am traveling next week and using my old girl for the first time in 6 months and I need to decide on the type. Any feed back will be helpful.
I don't like ford parts (i hate the people behind the counter and the part prices are a rip) so I go fleetguard and northland John deere premixed antifreeze. or whatever the international truck dealer is selling.
If you do not like messing with antifreeze, de-ionized water and sca'a use evans cooling, it is not water based and will last the life of the truck. The drawbacks is the initial cost $22/ gal or so and getting 97% or so of the water out. The system uses a 7.5 lb cap so it runs less pressure, the hoses last forever.
Just an update, used the Ford method, however I think I want to change out to this Evens coolant as I am not happy about checking every month on th SCA additives. Where is Even sold? Do you have any ideas on getting all of the coolant out of the system? I thought of using compressed air, do you think that would work?
