I figured while i am here i will replace the original radiator with something that his newer.
What is the best radiator to use?
they have the 3 row here and i can order a 4 row.
our summers get to about 100 degrees (give or take 10 degrees)
our winters get down to 10 degrees ( give or take 10 degrees)
I am thinking that the 3 row will do fine for me. I am thinking the 4 row will keep the truck cool in the summer but maybe to cold in the winter. I starting with a 160 degree thermostat (and going higher if i need it) and that is pushing me towards the 3 row
3 or 4 row (whichever is in your price range) running a 180 t-stat.

Uh, YUP! I concur. I had a stock 3-row that I had re-cored and never had any trouble in heat up to 90 degrees or so. A 4-row should be able to handle anything you throw at it.
Make sure you have a fan shroud, otherwise you need to extend the fan out to within an inch or two of the radiator and on my '74 highboy, that would have been an excessive load on the water pump bearing.
Better yet, get a large (or dual) electric fan and wire it up with a thermostat.
I run a 4-row from radiator.com with a dual electric fan from Flex-a-lite. If I had it to do again, I'd get one of those Be-Cool or similar brand shiny aluminum jobbers :-) heck, I may do it anyway.
If I were replacing the radiator I'd go with a 4 row. You can't have too much. The thermostat will keep the temp in the winter. I always run a 180 degree thermostat myself.
I have a stock radiator. I am not sure if it is the original or not. I am looking at it. It looks ok i never had and problems from it no leaks or anything. I kind of want to replace it for the simple fact that i should while it is out. I have washed it and cleaned it out. I am thinking it will be fine, but then agian i kind of want a new one. I am stuck in the middle on this one because i really dont have the money to spring for a new one, but i think what if i start down the street and psssssstttttttttt there goes the radiator.
If it worked before, it will probably work again. So long as you didn't clean it too good. I've hedard of radiators that started leaking after a good cleaning :-)
Anyway, it's not that difficult to replace it later if you decide to do something different.
I agree. Just reuse it. It is very easy to replace at a later date if you need to. Usually if a radiator does go out it's not so catastrophic that you're left stranded.
