You will have to build a tap-in for for the tranny gauge. there's no place already ready for that. This will require some mix-n-match design on your part. I odn;t think any body just makes the part you need. I have looked in several places.

There is a general fear of electric gauges not being as accurate as mechanical gauges. I found that coolant temp likes the mechanical gauge (never could get a good reading on the electric). But, my oil and fuel pressure gauges are electric and appear to work fine.

Naturally, you should look for a quality electric gauge to improve the accuracy of any measurment. This is not a good place to just get the cheapest part.

So true, you get what you pay for. For the most part electric is more reliable. The weak link would be any mechanism incorporated into the guages function. Electric/electronic monitoring devices can also be more sensetive to the environment they measure. Some people want to know about minor fluctuations, others don't. Either way, sensitivity is set by design parameters.

Those design parameters can also be a problem in that finding a replacement sender can be expensive. It seems like some manufacturers are too proud of their products to incorporate commonly available components.

Right now half of my guages are manual. The day is coming when I ditch the plumbing and have mostly wire running through my firewall. I'll make exception for a speedo cable and a vacume guage.
