I know there is a thread in the 6.0 forum but there are so many replies (IN EXCESS OF 1700) that I don't have the time to read that many. I am thinking of buying a superchip programmer, but have heard rumors that dealers will void warranties, even if uninstalled, prior to taking it in for service. I have heard that they can still tell if the computer has been modified even when the stock program is reinstalled, this can cause a hassel at the dealership. Has anyone experienced any problems with the superchip or problems at the dealerships? Any significant gains in MPG? Does it work good when towing? I am posting this here on the Excursion site so I can learn what to expect when using it on my 2004 4X4 limited 6.0L if I purchase one. Thanks for the input.
I got much better acceleration, 1-2 mpg better fuel economy, a bad clunking noise after disengaging cruise control at 60 mph+, and my dealer told me the SUPERCHIPS product usage would void my warranty.
Took the SC unit back and got a credit from the performance store where purchased.
Here is a site you can look at www.quadzillapower.com They say that this cant be detected by ford when you take it off. The others leave a footprint on the computer. I had a Hypertech but took it off and got the Superchip know, its working well with my set-up. I have a friend that just put the Quadzilla on his 6.0 so I need to test drive it to see but he said it rocks The link takes you to motorhaven for some reason so you will have to just punch it in
We have sold literally hundreds to EX owners and the Superchip does a great job. The really good techs can tell if ANY product has been installed by the higher fuel and boost pressures captured by the PCM. Call us if you have questions are need a tuner, we have a GUARANTEED pricing policy to make sure you get it as low as possible too!
Its undetectable, if you put the pgrm back to stock before going back to the dealer for work. Biggest issue I have is the PATS system. I have to reset the anti-theft (PATS) when going back to stock. But thats rare and only upon service calls. At 75K miles its been flawless and good upgrade for my 02 7.3 Excursion. The 6.0L and new transmission make all the differences in the world over the 7.3. Consider the Edge product in compaison. It has a 1-5 power setting rage. Stock? Stay under #3 or you'll cook the turbo if you don't keep EGT down. Move up to #5 w/exhaust and airbox upgrades. At 5 its really quick but the trans becomes the weak point and you really are pushing the limit on the turbo & drive train. Ya gotta pay to play Good luck w/your decision. Let us know what you do get and tell us the results.
