Buyer's Inspection
- Check function of all interior and exterior lights.
- Check tires for wear and proper air pressure, including spare.
- Check engine oil fluid level.
- Check windshield washer fluid level.
And the following should be done every 6 months:
- Check lap/shoulder belts and seat latches for wear and proper operation.
- Check that externally mounted spare tire is properly stowed (tight) (see “Owner’s Guide”).
- Check power steering fluid level.
- Check washer spray, wiper operation, and clean all wiper blades (replace blades as necessary).
- Check parking brake for proper operation.
- Check and lubricate all hinges, latches, door check straps (see dealer) and outside locks.
- Check and lubricate upper and lower sliding door tracks, if equipped.
- Check and clean sliding door contact switches, if equipped.
- Check and lubricate door rubber weatherstrips.
- Check and clean body and door drain holes.
- Check safety warning lamps (brake, ABS, air bag, safety belt) for operation.
- Check engine cooling system level and strength.
- Check battery connections and clean if necessary.
- Check clutch fluid level, if equipped.
To that, I might check out the body/finish (rail dust washed off...it looks like rust, but it isn't the truck's), that the jack and spare are there. But I suspect that with the pre-delivery inspection the dealer performs, they've probably completed Ford Form 2110204, "Multi-Point Inspection Card As Recommended By The Ford Motor Company" which covers all (I think) of the above and have likely included a copy in the bunch of paperwork they give you. You can also get a copy of that form form the maintence manual.

Is the list above about the same that you supplied? It's a good list, but if there is something else or your list is a little more thorough, I'd like to take a peek at it too. Was this posted at some time???

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Regarding that list, I went to the Ford site, became a registered user and checked out the owners manual for a truck I might not see for nearly 2 months. The list I posted was right out of the 2005 Scheduled Maintenence Guide, (I should quote the copyright: don't use it to make money, and credit Ford Mo Co). The after thoughts came from some comments elsewhere on this forum (may be old history and exaggerations).
When I flew as a pilot, I ran a checklist before every flight. Not quite as 'A-nal' with my motorcycle, and proabaly should be with the daily driver. Those look like good things to check anyway.
Polarbear let me know that the dealership I went with (wish it was his) is reliable. Then I bent his ear with ANCIENT family history with them (like 3 decades ago). Not worried. Just wish it was me picking it up tomorrow (today, if I don't get off this forum).

Thanks for the info. I've seen another make-shift list and I'm just trying to get an overall idea on what should and can be checked. I was just hoping to compare another list, but I'm sure they're all about the same. I think I'm officially on countdown mode. The build date on my order is 07/18 which is tomorrow. (I realize it is the WEEK OF 07/18) It's just a sh#t load of cash, and I can honestly say I would walk if something were not the way I wanted it. The inspection list is just a great way on checking things one might forget in their excitement... Good luck with your truck. BTW - what did you get?
Tide, You're right, this is a chunk of change and we PAY a 3rd party to do this with houses.
So what'd I get? (assuming the cursed money lender doesn't screw up today):
'05 Crew Cab Long Bed Lariat with bench seats. I'll use it as kiddy hauler (we're expecting our 2nd in October, and I can't put two kid seats in the rear center facing jump seats of my old '92 supercab - hence crew cab with benches) and to haul my hot air balloon on weekends (benches & long bed). The option list is nearly perfect: chrome steps, moon roof, reverse aid (hinderence) sensor, adjustable pedals (shorter wife, and chase crew memebers), and heated seats (bun warmers) and the nice mirrors.
The extras above what I'd have ordered:
6 CD changer (I'll guess I'll use my walkman for the books on tape, or burn them to CD at home), Power rear slider, and 4x (A long story on why I didn't think I wanted that, but I'm quickly changing my mind).
It's set up with the tow features, where I'd have gone more camper special on an order and I would have picked a single color (but they got my first two color choices - white over silver). Almost exactly what I'd order, and in my old home town, how cool is that?!?
So what's headed your way in 45 to 60 days?
I guess that means until we replace the wife's sedan, I'm banned from this portion of the forum...! Again thanks to Mark and especially polarbear.
