whats the 4th digit in the VIN ?

There is no way to guess if its a 240 or 300 because niether was more common than the other at that time.

"A" is a 240
"B" is a 300

the vin number is located on the drivers door, right? i bileve it is and it's not the orriginal cab. i bileve the cab is off of a F-100.
the casting numbers on the block are C6AE-6015-D if you know what size motor that was, that would be a big help.

Both engines are externally identicle, same casting numbers on everything. The only differences are crank, rods, and pistons. There is a vin number on the right front frame rail, right directly down from the battery tray on top of the rail. You may have to sand the framerail down to find the number.

take your carb off, take it to an auto parts store, ask for a new one and itll bring up what size intake it will fit, either a 300 or a 240. the intakes are slightly different. long way of doing it, but it worked for me.
