O.K. let me start, I don't know what the Futz I'm looking at and hope I can effectively communicate the question I have, bear with me.
I bought a Pr. of 113 heads for a rebuild. On examination with the valve springs off, there is a large diameter raised shoulder cast into the head that the valve spring seats over, in the center of that large diameter raised shoulder there is another smaller diameter raised shoulder that I assume is the valve stem guide.
The smaller diameter raised shoulder that I assume is the valve stem guide is broken away on 2 of my valve guides, exposing what looks like a bronze innermost guide? So here's my question: Is the cast iron on the smallest diameter raised shoulder that has broken away on my head a part of the valve guide that would be pressed out on a rebuild, or is it a part of the head casting that would require repair? Did I buy a bum head?
Hope I was explicit enough in my descriptiion for someone familiar with heads to recognize what I'm trying to describe.
Those broken guides will need to be repaired, but I don't think it's a major deal. Check with your machinist. I seem to recall that the guides can be bored out and then replaced.
