Does anyone know of a good source for replacement springs? I've checked around and I can get stock ones fairly reasonable, but what I'd like is a softer ride ie; a progressive type spring, that will still allow me to haul things when needed.
I priced some from a 4 wd catalog and WOW! they wanted almost a grand and that did not include shipping. I live in Fairbanks AK so that's going to be very high.
If I can find some that are not too high, then I might be able to swing it, getting tired of the old buckboard wagon effect.
one thing you could do, is take a leaf or so out of you main pack, then add a set of overload, or helper springs (the one's the hit the bracket on the frame, when the truck is loaded) that way the truck rides good, but you can still haul a load without fear of damage to the truck.
Yea, I've thought about that, but the springs are so old I'd like to replace them. I'm changing the gearing in the rear axle from 4:10 to 3:54, and replacing the front 4:09/drum brake axle with a 3:54/ disc brake one. Thought I change the springs while I'm that far into it.
if your talking front springs(you dont really state) jc whitney has them complete for 100 a piece.i bought a set and they ride nice and also cheap and easy to do . took about a week to get them.
ok out of jcw rears are 116 and fronts are 89 a piece. plus 100 dolaars shipping or that is what it cost me dont know about you up there in the frozen north
