well, just figured i would give you guys an update. the Big Ed swap was pulled off a few weeks ago and i have not had much time to work on it as we visited family for the holiday and then again last week. i have spent a few days buttoning up stuff and took it for a drive tuesday. when i got back i realized i left my hijack sitting on the front bumper and i had not bolted the shell down! man that could have been bad! fortunately it was just around the block and i never got above 35mph. yesterday i finished attaching all of the wiring tidbits like the dome light, courtesy lights, stereo wiring etc... i got dash finished up completely and now just have to put the pads above the back seat in (i just painted them because they were blue!). i have a full page hand written single spaced of stuff i need to do before i will be done. i also seem to have picked up a bad exhaust leak and will need to work on that. all in all it is now a supersab 4X4 and i can drive it anywhere but what a project. the good news is i found several parts trucks and ended up with a lot of leftovers like F250 4X4 steering boxes that i put on e-bay and it has helped offset the cost of the project. although i would not recommend a frame and cab swap to an amateur, it is quite doable. i am surprised that nobody here snapped up the two parts trucks that were on e-bay a couple of weeks ago in Illinois?? (maybe Indiana??). they only got bid to 100 bucks and that was a rolling 78/9 F250 4X4 frame with bed and a 2WD cab and chassis. anyway sorry for the ramble but i am getting tired of wrenching {G} hawkrod
great to finally get to drive it after all that hard work eh... i know it was some nice to see my 78 move under it's own power for a change... i was gettin tired of that tow bar... lol..
