I was looking through a Lokar catalog and seen a sweet package, it had speedo, tach, gas, batt., vacuum, and more. Can't remember all the detalis... but I was wondering if there was a way I could install this ... even though it is different than the stock gauges in my 77 F100 and doesn't exactly fit perfect?
Correct me if im wrong, but can't I just take the old gauges out and take a piece of sheet metal/aluminum/ and cut it to be 1/4 " wider than the hole in the dash, and match the new panel up to the sheet metal and cut out the hole and then rivet it in place and make it look all nice "billet style" ? I am not to sure if anyone gets what im saying, but I know someone who did something similar in there VW baja and it turned out very nice. And he also had room left over on each side so he installed toggle switches and LED lights to them. Please if anyone doesn't understand this tell me and I will try to help you understand.
I installed 4 autometer big-face gauges in 2 pods of 2---I left the old gauges as is and mounted 2 on the left side of the shift **** and 2 on the right side..(the np435 shift stick almost touches the dash in 1st and 3rd)......I mounted them on the 2 inch lip on the botton of the metal dash...........probably about the simplest way of doing it.......fd
Wow... I never even thought about doing that.... Sounds like a much simple'r Idea... and I could also mount them at an angle faceing toward me... hmm thanks for the info ill take it into conciteration!!
I am doing something similar, but with a 78 gauge cluster being fitted into my 84 F-250, with Auto Meter or VDO gauges. I just want the electric speedo.
