Look in my gallery to see the reasons why you should check your fan to clutch bolts NOW, this cost me almost $300 , new 4 row radiator $130 (company account to get discount plus friend works the conter on days ), water pump about $50, fan and water pump pulley $23 at a junkyard with the only f-series 460 with a fan, fan clutch $60, belts $35, able to drive my truck again.....priceless. The crank pulley I was able to bend back with some vice-grips, but all that black soot from that remaining belt is still everywhere.
Had a simular thing happen, but mine was a bad water pump bearing. Needless to say, waterpump stopped, fan kept going. Busted up my radiator, shroud in pieces, fan, clutch, water pump, belt, and power steering hose. $360 later i drove again. I feel your pain.
I still have problems sometimes with coolant leaking for a day then I wont see a drop for a month, that really bugs me because you can smell it but when I go to find it during the day it wont leak.
