A bit of information first, I have a 1998 Supercab 4x4 with the 3.0 when I bought the truck I had to get new Lower ball joints to pass inspection and new tires. I had the truck lined up two times at two different places. Since the I have driven about 15,000 miles and rotated the tires 3 times. The drivers front keeps wearing (feathering) on the inside. Just yesterday I noticed the if you push down on the front bumper you get a creaking noise coming from the upper control arm more specifically the upper ball joint but it could also be the bushing where the A arm connects to the frame. Also I noticed that the drivers side is a fixed arm with no adjustments, where as the passengers side has an adjustment bolt on the front and two nuts to lock down the adjustment for camber and caster. I would like to buy the whole upper assembly myself that comes with the same adjustmets but for the drivers side and adjust it to about what the passengers side is set to. Sorry this is so long any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the help texan2004 I went to Carquest today and it sounds like I am going to have to go to Ford to get one of the two pieces that I need since it is a dealer item only. The control arm that I currently have on the drivers side is OE with no camber or caster adjustments. If I get the right parts I can adjust the caster and then adjust the camber can be adjusted using shims.
More research, I was totally wrong I went to Ford and they said that the drivers side upper control arm is one unit where the passengers side is two piece. After finding this out I went back to Car Quest and bought the Drivers side upper control arm that was listed, after changing it I was sure glad that I did the ball joint was shot. Now I just need to get an alignment.
