My 79 F-100 has true dual exhaust coupled with a 351M. I want to replace my mufflers with 40 series Flowmasters and headers. Is there any way for mounting this combination without having to sit the mufflers at an angle? And does anyone know where I can get headers and could reccomend any particular brand? -Thanks
You can try the <SEARCH> function in this forum and the [link:www.ford-trucks.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=list&forum=exhaust&conf=misc|Exhaus t Systems Forum]. There are lots of posts with recommendations re sound and performance here.
Thanks for using FTE!

If you have the front gas tank(dual tanks), you will have to run then down the passenger side to keep the heat away from the tank. This will require hanging then sideways for clearance. I used Dynomax headers on mine. They fit great.
You may find more info in the exhaust forum though.

Might want to check the Hedman website. If you have dual tanks, and want to exit infront of the rear wheels, a set of fenderwell headers would be a good idea. Then your mufflers could lay flat and hidden.

i put dynomax headders on my 79'f100 2w/d,and i had to cut the cross member on the pass. side so it would fit on the engine, maybe you will have better luck.if i was to do it over i would go with shorties. good luck.
I have Hooker headers on my truck and they fit great...as for the exhaust I have twin 3in threw a pair of flow masters and they need to be at a angle to clear the driveshaft...
...I've been running a set of Hedman Cyclone headers for years and they are great but, I also run 10" collector extensions and they tend to run right into the tranny cross member. I planning to fab a new crossmember before redoing the muffs.
