I had one on my 95. It was ok as long as you weren't pulling a load. But get hooked up and the upshift from 2nd to 3rd felt like it was going to break a U-joint. VERY harsh. IMO it was a waste of money. Get a valve body kit like the Sonix tricumulator or equivilent. Everyone that has put one in wonders why they waited so long.
I recommend the Trans-go Tugger kit or the Sonnax Sure-cure. You can get them from several of our sponsors and on ebay. They'll be complete set-ups with everything you need. BTW, I had the same problem with the Transcommand.
Had Transcommand on my 96 PSD and have on my 01. It was harsh under load or when you punch it on the 96 E4OD. On the 01 4R100 it is much smoother. Just pulled 8000 lb travel trailer from Houston to Estes Park CO and back, about 3000 miles total. No problem but mileage ran 11-12 with lots of steep grades and running 65-70. Transmission shifted smoothly and is fun to drive without load.
I have the Transcommand, but it will be removed as soon as I get my tranny built. But so far I'm impressed with the shifting. Very firm and quick and not harsh. I'm the second owner and the first owner towed all the time since he intalled it at 16000 miles with the Banks Stinger Plus. Now I have over 90000 miles and it still runs great with my 100 hp Predator and BB turbo.
