The chip is often nothing more than a re-mapping of your existing chip to allow for crisper shift points, lean out or en-rich the intake, etc, depending on the mods. How wild of a cam are you looking at over stock? How big of injectors are you planning on running? What purpose do you have behind the mods? Is this a towing truck, a truck built for street and strip?(with extra compression and an overbore????) or just a daily driver that you want more performance out of in the mileage and power department?

More info is always good. Would really need some cam specs, intake specs, injector specs, all over stock, to provide a good answer.

There is a forum for this further down the page, to address any and all chip questions.

However, a chip is always a good idea. Especially with mods.

I'm doing the engine and tranny in a '94 E-350 and am looking at a comp cam for it, its a computer friendly one so everything should stay happy and at least the poor old W will be able to get the van moving on the highway. Are chips even available for OBD1?
