Ok not to sound to dumb or anything but I've been wondering exactly what are superchips and SCT's and if they are compatable with my '94 F150 XL Sport. Right now my truck is pretty much stock. I'm lookin to drop a 351 in it but I've gotta wait a couple more paydays. Thanks for any advice.
Superchips is a company that has been making Ford chips since I was in high school ('8 0r 9 years ago). SCT (Superchips Custom Tuning) is completely different. SCT Tuning involves placing your vehicle on a dyno and running it, then reflashing a chip for your EEC.
SCT also now makes more generic chips and the Excalibrator, which is similar to a Diablosport Predator, it flashes your EEC by you...
SVT Cobra - what a pup! Highschool 8-9 years ago. 2 years ago I had my 20th reunion. Oh I wish I were back in your shoes....
Anyway - SCT stands for "Superchips Custom Tuning". A couple guys that worked at superchips were authorized to spin off a new custom programming segment into a new company called SCT. This is all on the SCT website http://www.sctflash.com/about_us.php
The key is that superchips did and still does offer standard or generic tunes based on stock or some nominal mods. SCT chips are totally programmable and if you buy from a SCT rep that has a dyno, they can program the chip right then and there to optimize your car - not some generic computer profile.
Actually, SCT was formed from indepent companies that merged and licensed technology and the name from Superchips. They didn't form from Superchips employees. At least one of them did some contract work for Superchips at one point, as well as for Diablo Sport.
