I picked up my new to me 2004 F250, XLT, Crew Cab, V10 Tuesday from the Dealer. I have been driving a 1997 F150 Ext. Cab, 5.4L Auto Trans. for the last 6 years. I sometimes tow a 24 ft. travel trailer and sometimes found the 5.4L a little weak on some of the hills in the Ozarks and out west in northern Arizona. I had planned on buying a 2005 F250 Powerstroke, and almost pulled the trigger on one. But still at $32,500 even after discounts and rebates, was just a little more than the budget could stand.
Dealer had this 2004 F250 on the lot. It was purchased in Sept. 2004 by an elderly couple and they made on trip to Ohio with it towing a travel trailer, the gentleman got sick and later passed away from cancer. His Widow sold the truck back to the Dealer and it only had 2600 miles on it. I go to Church with the Service Manager, so I know the story about the truck is true. Anyway, it was priced at $26,993.00 and they knocked a $1,000.00 off that and I picked it up for $25,993.00. So now I am waiting to give it the old tow test in a couple of weeks, I think it will do fine. We have already planned a trip to the Smoky Mtns. this fall to give it a real test.
You're going to love that truck. I too, used to tow the TT with a 150. The difference in handling will amaze you, especially in those mountain passes. This is not to mention the extra power.
Sounds like a nice truck and a real good deal. I think you will find the V10 much more suited for towing the TT. Don't be affraid to rev the V10, RPM's are good. You should create a sig with some details about your truck. Welcome to the BSEG club.
I think you got a terrific deal and I know you are going to love that Crew Cab. I am on my third CC and my wife will never let me buy any other cab style again. The 04 V10 is a terrific proven motor, you made the right choice. Good luck with your new rig, Wrench.
