Hey Everyone. I just bought my first superduty about a month ago. Its an 02 F350 C/C 4x4 7.3. After about the first week It started making a squealing sound light not all the time under hard acceleration. Now it is more consistant under acceleration. It tends to do it more when its hot. I first suspected the belt but after going under the hood it is towards the back kinda of on the driver's side.It doesn't do it all the time, it does it about 60% of the time I get on it. I tried to search but I couldn't find a similar problem. I hope someone can help. Thanks
Kenny
My 2002 did same kinda thing but gradually got worse. Turned out to be the belt making the noise. Dealer said there was apparently bad belts put on many of the 2002's because it was common for many of them. Replaced belt did fine for 1 month then same thing. Replaced belt again and never another problem that was 3 years ago.
Hmmm, I have something similar, and it seems to only happen when the truck is warmed up also. It'll do it intermitantly when it's warm and I notice it seems to happen with the fan clutch is engaged. It'll squeal for a second or tow then stop for a sceond or two then back on again. Does this sound like what you guys were experiencing? What brand of belt do I replace it with? Certainly is worth a try! Thanks!
J.D.
Second thoughts: My sound is more of a high pitched pssssssssst pause psssssssst. still familiar?

Yea thats kinda what mind does. I noticed today when i am driving it hard it starts to do it but it i just cruise let it cool down i get on it again its quite once i get on it a couple of more times it satrts to squeal again and it sounds like the fan is engaged when it squeals. What kind of belt did you use the second time when it stopped?
