First, what weight gear oil would i put in a dana 60 rear and an np435 tranny, since i think it would be good to service them.
Secondly, either my clutch or transmission is making an odd noise. When the clutch is pressed in, there is no noise, when i let my foot off the clutch when im in both neutral or a gear, the truck makes a ticking noise. Im guessing this may be a throw out bearing on my clutch, but my friend thinks it may be an input bearing on the tranny. Any suggestions, this has me really worried because i love this truck and don't have the funds to fix a tranny right now if it is the case. Thanks guys.
For your tranny you'll want to but a 80w gear lube, as for your dana 60, if it has lim slip you'll need a friction modifier as well as gear lube...i put 80w gear lube in my axles as well. As for the noise, my money would not be on the throw-out bearing. Input shaft bearing would make noise in neutral and even with the tranny in gear. Either way, you have to take the tranny of to fix, check them both. Mike
