I recently bought a 2000 Excursion 4x4 w/v-10. I've noticed that on a couple of occasions, when I first start the truck ;I feel a vibration...the engine doesn't sound as though its skipping...weird..huh?!?
Second question...the Ex sounds to be spark knocking(detonating or misfiring if you don't speak redneck!) whilest riding down tha road. I've run 87,89,93 octane and changed the fuel filter to no avail.
I attempted to do a search but obviously this high-fangled typewriter didn't understand exactly what I was axing!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
On edit: sorry, my eyes skip over the linked words in posts now and I didn't see you had changed the fuel filter already. Testing the ignition system might be best.
The "spark knock" you are hearing is most likely the phenomenon known as FLUTTER. Plenty of info if you want to search on it. Only real cure is to change the factory exhaust setup (cat forward).
runuovr my 2000 DRW had the Flutter when it was new, my 2000 SRW didn't strange. But anyway Ford fixed it for me by installing a 2001 Y pipe and the pipe going to the converter, they also flashed the commuter to a 2001 program no noise at all after that.
Thanks for the input, I'll check those suggestions first. I'm not sure about the "Flutter", it only does it on hills and when the rpms are up just before the transmission shifts...hmmm...I'll check that though.
