I have a 95 Explorer w/ power seats. Both the drive and passenger seats will move up/down/foward but will not move backwards. I have nothing blocking the tracks and when the toggle is pushed back there is no "humming" from the motor like it is trying to move it back.
Anyone know how to remedy this issue? clean the switch? replace the switch?
Not likely a fuse, or the other functions wouldn't work. I looked on the Autozone site and couldn't find a wiring schematic that had the power seat circuits on it. The first step would be to find a wiring diagram. If they both quit at the same time, I'd look for a common wire to that function on both sides. Otherwise, my first suspicion would be the switch. Again, a wiring diagram should show which poles should be connected for that function, and you could check the continuity. If it is the switch, I doubt you'll be able to access the contacts to clean it, it'll probably have to be replaced.
I've looked at the wiring diagram on the Ford service CD for 95 and don't see how this could be a single point failure. Unless you have a Limited with memory seat function, the wiring is very simple.
