People who pull stuff like that (especially if its someone you work with, LORD knows) generally have a history. They also figure nobody can possibly be smarter than they are.
Consequently they become sloppy.
And that is exploitable...
Another point (and I forget where I learned it) is this:
"Hold your friends close. Hold your Enemies even closer"
Nothing beats knowing what's in the other guys hand...
