I am going nuts.I have an 2003 F350 DRW.I bought it wil 40,000 miles,it was teated well andis in like new condition. The first time I had my 9000lbs trailer attached and was pulling hard up a hill there was this faily sever shutter /vibration. When I mentioned this to the local Ford tech,he mentioned that Ford had put out a TSB on this and that becasue of the angle of the drive shaft that this is a common problem with the F350. The problem is that I am now experiencing a slight vibration at all speeds but it changes as the speed gets higher,it gets better around 60 mphs and then gets worse again. The truck is so beautiful in every aspect ,this vibration is very dissapointing. Also becasue it is so slight it can sometimes be mistaken forroad vibration but believe me if you drive it long enough you can tell it is not just road vibration. I just finished a 2000 mile drive and am I am about done!
I know that if I take it to a dealer , they will raod test it on a short trip and say " oh you are being to picky"..."it is just normal raod vibration"
well there have been problems like this in the past.
First is this a shudder on take off too?
Or is it only when at highway speeds?
A few things to look at are common things that cause vibration:
tire balance
u-joints
bent wheels
loose wheels (these are buddy wheels chk for proper torque and instalation)
If this vehicle has 40,000 on it what was it used for ?
Did the previous owner tow alot? If so I'd chk the rear diff out looking for internal problems, like excessive backlash and side carrier bearng end-play.

Some guys shim the carrier bearing down in the center of the drive shaft.
Some guys get special angled blocks made for the rear axle to sit on
The truckwas never used for towing, yes the shutter is very evident under hard acceleration. The tires are brand new Micillen LTXs, the brake rotors are new. I had the rear end gear oil just replaced by dealer, they said every thing looked good.
I just put a 10" lift on a customers truck and it made some sort of vibration when he went a certain speed so I tried different wedge degrees and nothing seemed to work so we raised the truck and put the axles on jackstands and got it going about 100 mph and it didn't make any noises so then it was obvious it was somewhere in the tires even though they were brand new. He took it back to where he got the tires and one of the weights fell off and ended up being the cause of the vibration....I personally think they just balanced it incorrectly but that's my opinion....basically what I'm saying is put it on jackstands and get under it while someone is on the gas and see if you can locate the vibration.

Is this rear a limited slip ? I suspect it is being a dually. When they changed the fluid did they put the proper amount of friction modifier in it ??????
A common cause of shudder on take off or hard acceleration is not enough.
If you have read on here about it you will understand.

Do a serach of this forum on vibration...there is a TBS that addresses that issue with part numbers etc. They use shims on the driveshaft mount, but you must have the truck loaded for them to check, so bring your trailer. It is in the TBS. Maybe someone will post it if you can't find it. My 05 got a new driveshaft for vibration a week after I bought it. Hope this will help.
