Waxing leaf springs

I dismantled my leaf springs, and have begun to "polish" the mating surface, and have radiused the load bearing edges of the springs, hoping to get alittle better flex and smoother ride. With the amount of caked mud and surface rust between the springs, I want to lather wax on the mating surfaces before I assemble them to keep crap out. Anyone recommend a wax to try? I was thinking surfboard wax, but that may be too soft. . .but candle wax is awefully brittle Also, will this help smooth out the ride any?

Seriously

Won't smooth out your ride but will help with the squeaks.

I put Teflon Greese "ball hitch greese" on mine to get rid of the squeeking. Put between each sprint. It works real well and last a long time.

I keep a spray bottle of Baby Oil for when I go out to my land or my lease. Spray on all parts you don't want mud and dirt on/in. When your done go to the car wash and it takes half the time to get the mud and dirt off the underbody.

That get's me thinking.....What if we add baby all over our treads before we hit the mud. Think it would help our M/T's to clean better? Better yet just glide across the mud. Holy Crap! I gotta market this idea..An auto tread oiler...lol

People do that already... sorry to rain on your parade. I tried cooking oil on my ATs, to no effect- except on the sidewalls and outermost portion of the lugs. Wasnt worth my time or effort. or the oil.

Might be more effective on tires with larger void though...

me an my buddies spray down our tires with WD-40 but I don't think it helps. It does help to spray down your undercarriage with it when you go to wash up though!

Anyone try using pam (different then the cooking oil) on the tires yet?

As far as the waxing goes why not just use rubber pads of some sorts between the leafs?

Pam? Why would you want a woman out in the mud trying to scrape mud off your tires as you're spinning them?

Here http://www.speedwaymotors.com/xq/asp...qx/Product.htm

This stuff works great, It is what dirt track racers use to stop mud from building up. The first few times I raced I was using babyoil on the whole truck and it didnt work as well as this stuff. And to put it on just use a weed sprayer.

Dude,
I'm with Pro, even if he is bustin on ya. Forget the oil/wax/whatever. If you want to clean them out properly, you either need more hp, more wheel speed or more open tread. Cut Boggers or Hawgs and paddle tires are a good option (not on the street obviously), but horsepower is where it's at.

What about AT's... arent those good at mudding? I thought they cleaned out real well? Oh well, even if they dont, they look real mean... -doh-

Anyone seen the void on 53" michies? Between side logs its like 8"... and about 2"-2.5" in the center. Crazy. Not Terras though...

BTW, Anyone know how much the "pinions" on rockwells sticks up above their axle housings? Sorry for hijacking.
