the vintage air in mine will cool it down to 70-80 on a 100 day, takes a while because mine is a panel truck(read large oven) sure it would do better in a small cab pickup...I run r12 not the 134 refregirant..but just the effect of cool air blowing on you helps 100%
Is R-12 still available in your area, I thought it was gone for good.
I can only speak for myself and my F-1. But here in Phoenix I have yet to use high on my fan. I got to work at 7 am and its comfortable on low. Will freeze my knee cap when wearing shorts! The past couple of days its been 110 plus and I only use medium. As for the temp in the cab, my duct temp is 37-40 degrees.
keep in mind I know very little about air, this is the first install I've done, but talked to some pro's that explained it to me, but most was to technical for my little knowledge so I went with their recomendations..but I remember something about lower head temp..( I think on the compressor)..and r12 is colder, which I need here in 100+ days...the switch to 134 was for enviromental reasons
The switch from R12 was instigated by DuPont because their patent had or was about to expire. In order to keep away comeptition they worked with Congress to outlaw it in new vehicles, so DuPont now has the patent on 134 for another long time and no competition.
I've been looking for one of these systems for a short while. I have a 1967 250 Camper Special with the pull **** controls. Classic Air told me they had heard some very low end models has these type of controls and they might be able to retro-fit the cables to make the system work.Does anyone know if this setup-,pull *****, make adding AC more of a pain ?thanks
I bought the Hot Rod Air unit for my 54. It works OK, but not great. Not enough air flow. Also, their drain for condensed water is all wrong. Next time I'll spend a little more and get the Vintage Air. Jag

That's an interesting thought, but I'll have to disagree with you on this one Paul.
