I'm going to switch to a 285/70/17. I was wondering what experiences folks have had with balancing these tires. Which balances better? I tried 285/75/16 Goodyear MTR on my old Superduty and the tire shop could not get the shake out of the steering wheel at 60 mph.
Never had the Goodyear but I have had 2 pair of Bf A/T's and 2 pair of BF M/T's. I had no trouble with either. They both rode great and wore great. I rototed they every 6,000 miles and got around 40,000 miles on the A/T's and 30,000 miles on the M/T's. I do not run my tires down to the minimum specs so these could have gotten more miles. Even with my great history with BF I have chosen to try out the Nitto grapplers for my 2005. So far so good and the road noise is comparable to the BF (very low.
I just put 295 bfg's AT's on my truck my second set, the first set lasted 60,000 Km's, the Goodyears I find are always a little to expensive. I have never had problems with these tires.
I appreciate all the pics guys. You definately helped me make up my mind, and now the tires and sitting in my garage. I'll post some pics when i get the tires on the truck. Thanks a bunch.
I would go with the BFG's. 6 sets, love 'em. A pal had the GY mtr's and could never get them to balance, second set was out of round, gave them all back and got some BFG's as well. His truck is a Dodge though, I blame that...
I have a set of 37 x 12.5 x 15 on my 78 f-150. Haven't had any issues really, but i never tried to balance the 37's. Had a set of 35'' mtr, and they rode pretty good, as far as an aggresive tire goes.
