That unit works with OBD 1 and 2 vehicles. If you're after something like that then your money would be better spent on something like EASE diagnostics. It looks like it will monitor everything the auto xray will plus it will datalog and perform a cylinder balance test as well...and it's cheaper, but you you'll need a laptop though. The EASE is obviously not for everyone, but I have found it to be VERY useful being that I do my own tuning on both of my trucks, and my brothers truck as well.
Interesting. Sounds similar to the VAG-COM program sold for VW's and Audi's. Personally, I'm less interested in only reading codes but pulling real-time info from the computer, which a lap-top based program should do. All too often I've had to deal with cars that run like crap, but are not throwing a CEL.
Not endorsing the Auto-Xray. It was just something I found quickly that would do EEC-IV (as well as most other systems by default). I remember looking for an EEC-IV reader at Pep Boys and don't remember seeing one... I'll have to look again. Of course, my van runs fine now, so that usually get back-burnered... But a program based system would be preferred. I'd rather keep all of my diagnostic stuff in one place. EEC-IV... VAG-COM... BMWAG... a lot to keep track of... if only a diagnostic program was available for D-Jetronic, I'd be a happy camper right now...
