BFG's cheap? Maybe if you find something used. If you want a tread similar to the BFG, check out the Hankook mud terrain. It's not called a mud terrain, they have some goofy model number designating it. If you want real cheap, there is an outfit from Colorado that advertises in the back of the 4 wheel magazines that does retreads. Without trying to get into the retread argument, theose tires are cheap, something like $50 or 60 for mud tread.
OR, depending on what you want for tread, and whether you could handle either going to 31's or 34's, you could get the Swamper LTB's. They're heavy duty, and pretty inexpensive.
I know the BFG's are decent tires, but I can't justify paying the prices they charge for them.
Not sure if you can get these anywhere but a Mills Fleet Farm, but I priced out their Wide Track Radial MT's, I got my 31"s for $94, and the 33"s are $116, The 31" I have now ROCK in mud and snow, I an thinking of getting the 33" s next and adding a 3" body lift to my truck to get them to fit (can't aford a suspension lift right now).
If price and longevity are the only deciding factors try recaps. There is a company called High-Tec Retreading that sell them 4Wheel did a test on them and they wrote that they are very good. They have lots of 33" tires for $75.
