For those of you that know me, I've had a KB on my Navi for about, forever. After working out the initial issues I haven't been able to buy a problem. I was taking my mom back to the airport today and the SES light came on. Turns out to be a PO174 (bank 2 only). Now to figure out what is causing it.
Crap. I put my Autotap on it and read the LTFTs and STFTs and they are all fine. Not accepting that I went over to my local Ford dealer and grabbed a WDS. Everything is fine there. So my buddies say its just a transient thing, clear the code and move on. Why am I so **** they ask. I say if I had brought this thing in under an RO and all I could say is set code 174, and I cleared it, you would have chewed me out for not giving you the opportunity to read any other data.
Seriously, if I recall correctly, the limit is 20 or 25 percent adjustment before the pending code is set. That's a pretty serious deviation even if it has only happened once or twice. I have to agree, it is probably a failing pre cat O2. But, I'll wait until (if) I see the code again. I gotta laugh at the reliability of this thing, all those miles and finally a code.
Yah, I know what you mean - mind you my story is a fair bit different, mine doesn't even use the stock PCM...
Double the power, drive it like a madman, and the results:
Loss of 5th gear on transmission (a trans which is only rated for 600Nm, my engine makes close to double that).
3 Sheared differential pinion teeth...
But anyhow, those things (o2 sensors) can be EXTREMELY variable, humidity, temp etc. maybe even a loose wire caused it.
Aw, man. I can't get it to light up again. Shoot, and here I was so looking forward to putting some money into this thing. I'll tell you, what a disappointment. Sure I was able to have a little fun (https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=175846) when I first put on the SC, but now nothing, so many miles and not a darn thing!
I'll tell you what, if you like to tinker, that LAST thing you are going to want to do is put a KB blower on your ride. There's nothing to do! Just put gas in it every now and then (though it is frequent enough that I feel I'm doing SOMETHING) change the oil here and there, but no fun!
I really ought to write a letter to then Kenne Bell folks. They really should know about this.
