So here's what's going on in my FPR. When I turn off the truck in the driveway, and hop out real quick, run around to the front, and pop the hood, I can hear the FPR buzzing. There's some kind of pressure leak. When I replaced it a few months ago, I noticed an o-ring. Is this the cause of the problem? Is there a way to fix this? Anyone else messed with this problem? Thanks.
The FPR on our formula car at NC State sort of squeaks when the fuel pump is first turned on, and is more noticeable when the lines have been drained or the car has been shut off for an extended period of time. My point is, I don't know if it indicates a problem or not, but I have heard one of them make noise before.
well, the buzz is like air releasing, but having to go through a little liquid first. It's hard to describe really... But there is definately pressure being lost there.
Any chance that you could get your hands on a fuel pressure guage? It would give you a really good picture of how fast the leakdown is occurring. I finally bit the bullet and bought one for my tool box - about $40.00 CDN from the local Canadian Tire store. If you can't go the $$ to buy one can you borrow one from a friendly wrench or your local parts house? I agree that if you had misaligned an o-ring or left it out you would be spritzing fuel all over the place.
only two alan screws on mine. I remember replacing it, and the guy gave me the one with 3 screws. But hey, the 5.8 in this year must only have 2, cause that's what I had. I might be able to get my fuel pressure tested, but I don't think that's going to help my cause. I hear pressure releasing from the FPR and it sounds like bubbling fluid. I'll go under the hood again tomorrow. What a PITA place to put a FPR.
