vacumn lines

I've got a 460 '92 F-350 and the vinyl vacumn lines are breaking. I've tried the local junk yards but the vacumn lines I can find are all cracked or broken, or break when I try to remove them from the truck. Since the lines plug into the canister and are molded over the plug I am wondering if I can just use the old fashioned rubber vacumn lines and epoxy them to the pieces of vinyl lines.
Why did Ford switch to vinyl and quit using the rubber lines?
Thanks for your input.

Ford isn't the only one to use the hard lines. My wifes Olds has them too. A peice of plain old 1/8 inch vacuum line fits nicely right over them and works well. I wouldn't epoxy them. You can use a wire tie if you feel you need to though. BTW, my local aquarium & outdoor water pond place has vacuum line for 10 cents a foot as opposed to the autoparts store that has it for .80/ft
Cheers,
Popa Tim

Thanks Papa Tim, I'll give the "old" rubber vacumn lines a try. I thought maybe there was a good reason they changed to vinyl and I would have to find some vinyl lines.

Take care,
Bob
