Aaron, dont postpone on my account. If it helped others to make it then that would sound like a good option. I would certainly make plans to show. The only thing that could screw me up there would be getting called in for overtime at work (fireman you know), so go ahead and get the best showing you can with the most practical date. See what the gang wants to do.

I'll spit shine the old 1981 and meet you guys there.

Hopefully the wheel cover for my truck will be in at Les Schwab by then. It's upsetting that I just repainted my stock wheel covers, and one fell off and got crunched by a car 1/10th of a mile away from Les Schwab after getting new front tires. But I will say this, Les Schwab ordered me a new one, free of charge. Still not in of course. Hopefully by the 20th.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Well, if you want to wait that long, why not move it to the Turlock swap meet? It is the 21st. We could meet in the parking lot, or somewhere for breakfast or lunch.

I like the idea better as it gives everyone something to do - look at the old trucks, and maybe buy some parts!

Lotsa Stuff (Except Rain)

The Summer Turlock Swap Meet?s Bigger Than Ever

Savvy swappers know there?s one place to go in the San Joaquin Valley for a meet where they can find just about everything they need: Turlock. That includes the Summer Turlock Swap Meet, which will have everything the earlier-in-the-year meets have (except the chance of rain) on Sunday, August 22nd, at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds.

Ryan Roberts, who promotes the Summer swap (and who?s the son of Rick Roberts, who puts on Turlock?s Spring and Fall meets), says that all of their swaps are getting to be as popular with sellers and buyers alike as the big Winter Turlock meet. ?The Turlock swaps are growing so fast now that it?s important that swappers come on Saturday [for early set-up.]? Why? So they can get the space they want. As Roberts explains, ?At the Spring swap in May, they sold out all their swap spaces?it had grown 30% since the previous [Fall ?03] swap they put on.? He adds that motorcycles are also completely welcome at Summer Turlock.

Roberts says that he?s already had lots of calls from prospective new sellers, and those who were there last time, looking to rent spaces at this mid-August swap. Call now to reserve your choice of either a 20?x20? space on grass (for just $35) or a big 18?x40? space on pavement that?s $40, or for a spot in the vehicles-for-sale corral for only $25 per car, truck or motorcycle.

Summer Turlock?s also the place where you can find that recent back issue of DRIVE! that you missed, in the big rack near the main gate.

There?s a lot to like about the Summer Turlock Swap Meet: lots of neat parts, tools and automobilia at good (or, at least negotiable) prices....and no rain!

Summer Turlock Swap Meet
Stanislaus County Fairgrounds, Turlock, CA (From CA Highway 99: Exit at Fulkerth Road, then go east on Fulkerth to Soderquist. Turn right on Soderquist and follow it to the free parking lot across from the main gate.)
Sunday, August 22nd, 6 AM-3 PM (Early set-up available on Saturday, August 21st from 4-8 PM.)

Hey
I like the Turlock Idea. It's only about 17 miles from my house. Easy drive.
