2001 ford door open light stays on after l use trunk,,l have to open and close quite a few times to get it to go out,,any advice on how to fix it??? THANKS
Switch is probably wired onto the Clasp, open the trunk & close the clasp fully ( by hand). Door Ajar light should go out when clasp is correctly closed (forms a near perfect circle). If it does not go out pull, the wire off at the terminal, if the light goes out normally the contact in the clasp is defective. Cant say if you can fix that. But you should be able to soak it in Kerosene & blow with an air gun to get any dirt soaked off of the switch contacts. Could also be that your trunk striker pin is incorrectly adjusted, not allowing the clasp to close fully. Try adjusting it........My son had this problem on his Mustang.

Once you clean it with WD-40, you should give it a liberal coating of white lithium grease. Otherwise the WD-40 residue will attract dirt back into the latch.
