Fuel mileage ??

Hi all, Just wondering if there is any change to the 6.0 from 2004 to 2006. My 2006 has 841 miles on it and Its getting 19-20 mpg and the 04 has 24500 miles on it and it gets 12-15 I just changed the fuel filter's and the air filter and no change. These calculations are all on the lie ometer any help would be great thanks

I have a '05 with about 5500 miles on it. It is edging up to about 16.5 riding locally. This is hand calculated. The message center calculation is consistantly .5 MPG higher than hand calculated.

I have a 2005 CC SRW 4x4 with 1800 miles on it. On a recent trip 420 miles (one way) I hand calculated 17.1 mpg. The lie-o-meter was reading 18.1 mpg. I was running 2% biodiesel with stanadyne additive. On the way home I was running standard diesel with stanadyne and hand calculated 16.4 mpg with the lie-o-meter reading 17.8. On both runs I was running between 73-80 mph.

Your mileage will go down after your first oil change. Ford puts in 30-W oil to help the break-in period. I have the dealer put in only 14 qts, because one quart stays in the injector rail. Too much oil will make it foam and reduce your mileage. Sorry for the bad news.

F350 LWB 4x4 CC 6.0 Automatic. Just got the truck a month ago. 2600 total miles on it so far.

I just got home from a 1565 mile trip. Houston to Fredericksburg, on to Batesville (south of Uvalde) to the deer lease (saw a NICE 10 point buck) then to Alpine & Ft. Davis. Drove around the mountains (well, they're the closet thing we have to mountains), back home via Interstate 10. Started off averaging 16.0 mpg., finished the trip at 16.4. All hand calculated. Drives my wife crazy when I take forever trying to make sure the tank is filled to the same level each time.

I haven't pulled anything yet. This was really just a little vacation trip. I don't often pull anything other than my CJ-7 during hunting season. I got the F350 for carrying heavy loads for my business. I have a machine shop, and I'm forever having to go to the saw shop or to the steel supplier to pick up things. I used to have to make two trips when I had a lot to pick up. Now I do it in one load.

Sorry I can't help with any towing figures.

Thats 13.5 quarts on a oil change, not 15 or 14.5. Also my truck is 05 Job #2 build, just before 06 release. I changed the oil at 1200 miles. at 4300 and still rising in mileage. Last weekend trip north pulling trailer over 2000 lbs of railroad ties, 20.77 mpg
hand calculation. Trick keep tach under 2000 rpm. I'm very happy with my F-250 Lariet CC 4x4 short bed with snow plow package 3.73 rear end. The mpg is even better between 63mph and just under 70mph which should keep your tach down. At the current prices per gallon I'm in no hurry anymore. I fiqure I get there later than most of the folks, but have more fuel in the tank then they do.

19 to 21

I consistently get 19 to 21 on the highway (fairly flat trips of 300 miles - 75mph). I have an 05 250 CC short bed FX4 with 18" wheels, ARE bed cover and 11K miles (Feb build). My mileage went up after about 7000 miles. I had an oil change at 3K and 8K - didn't notice any difference.

I concur with those that say the best mileage is below 2000 rpm. If I would do 65 instead of 75, I'd pick up two mpg's. Also, wind makes a real difference - two to three mpg's.

I pull a 4000 pound trailer about a third of the time and I only get 11 mpg with it in tow. Not so much the weight, it's the aero drag from the trailer that ruins the mileage. I recently pulled a much heavier trailer - same height - and got exactly the same mileage.
