First I would like to thank all on this forum for all their help...it is grealty appreciated and hopefully as I keep learning I can give back....
Now for what I really need help with.....I need to do some work on my engine and I am trying to determine wht I have in there. I bought the 1990 BRONCO with 220,000 miles on it and the engine has been slowly dying since then. I have the original window sticker witch matches the VIN and claims the engine is a 351W. However when I went to change the oil pan gasket the only gasket that would fit was for a 302HO (year?). The 351W they sold me at the parts store did not fit. How can I find out what engine I have in my truck before I start buying rebuild parts?
I thought the oil pans were the same. But you can measure the lower intake were it bolts too the heads. Measure from edge too edge. 302 should be about 9" and 351w should be about 11"
I agree with BRK. If you can find any casting numbers on the heads or block, that will help with the engine ID, too. The 302H.O. was never offered on the Bronco.
Well, my 302 does not have it on the valve covers or the manifold. The top of my upper just says Ford Fuel Injection. The intake topic has already been discussed before. Right now the only thing I can think of is the knock sensor. I am almost positive that the 351 does not have one. It is located at the back of the block on the drivers side.
