Knock Sensor?

Knock Sensor?
Hey guys, I've got a 98 expedition with a 4.6 and it pings real bad on anything other than Super unleaded. The power and mileage has also dropped. We scanned it and the knock sensor came up as being bad. Question is where is this sensor and how hard is it to replace. Any info would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.
It should be under the intake manifold. The intake manifold must be removed to replace it. I looks to be located between cylinders # 3&7. That's where it is on a 2000 model.

Thanks for the info, we were hoping it wasn't under the intake. Oh well I'll tackle it after we get back from vacation. Love the message board and again thanks for all the help.
