What the heck?

I have a 2000 V10 with the most awful spark knock you've ever heard. Fuel pressure within spec and exhaust has no restriction. Knock sensors ever go bad?

I'm not sure what you mean by spark knock BUT is it possible it may be trying to spit out a plug ??

No it's not trying to spit a plug. They're new and seated properly. Detonation is what I'm talking about. Pinging

No codes present and it does it regardless of brand of fuel or octane used.

Could be knock sensor. Do you have a chip/tune on it? Air filter clean? Fuel filter good? Anything you can think of that would make it run lean?

Those are 2 terms I DO understand & the only ways that I know they can be caused is by ,the timing being too advanced, Engine under severe load with the crap they sell as gas now a days,Or using a low octane fuel in a high octane required engine....

I'm not familiar with the V10's, but do they have VVT (Variable Valve Timing)? My Lincoln had the worst pinging I've ever heard at full throttle which was due to a bad VCT solenoid. It took me awhile to track it down. Disconnecting the VCT solenoid eliminated the pinging completely.

Is the pinging accompanied by a loss of power, especially at higher RPMs? If so it could be a clogged catalytic convertor, checking the pressure at a pre-cat O2 sensor will be the best check.

Severe loss of power. Installed my back pressure gauge in up-stream O2 bung, readings are normal. Any thing above 1/2 throttle is terrible.

Did this symptom occur prior to changing the plugs ?
What plugs did you install, ie: are they the correct plugs?

Did this issue arise at the same time the new plugs were installed? I assume not, but had to ask anyway.

Is check engine light on?

Are all cylinders detonating? Or just one or two?

Before new plugs, no codes and it sounds like every cylinder

I had the same issue last year. Catalytic a converters bad.

Checking at the o2 bung won't find it because the back pressure is between the 1st cat and the engine.

Unbolt your exhaust. Look inside with flashlight.

Test drive with exhaust disconnected.

You'll see.

You never answered what plugs you swapped in. Also you might think about running non-ethanol fuel in your truck. It's all I run unless I run low and can't get to any.
