i have heard about it here through the forums. i then searched around and still couldnt find it. could someone please help show me or give me a link on what it is and how to do it? im a new user, but not new to diesels.
it is the mod that takes the crank case ventilation tube out of the intake air line and routes it to just vent out into open air, usually under the truck... keeps that oilly mist from condensing on your intake boots and gives your mule a cleaner intake air charge... gonna do this on myself soon...
[/img]Turn the breather around on the valve cover to point to the rear. Connect 3/4" hose, run it up an over the rear of the master cylinder, down to the frame and to the rear of the truck. The plastic piece that it originally connected to can be replaced with a piece of 4" exhaust pipe or PVC.
im curious what everyone did to plug the hole in the intake tube. Im wanting to do this mod but i cant think of anything to cover the hole well. I've heard of one member filling it with jb weld, but i would hate for that blob to become dislodged and royally screw up the engine. Is there an aftermarket intake system i could buy that dosent have a hole in the intake tube?

I'd suggest that you read the caption under the picture in Mech's post.......it will answer your question.

i did, it dosent say what he did to plug the intake hole. It just says what to do with the crank case vent. Unless he's talking about connecting a piece of pvc to the intake..? Do you have a picture of that?
I was going to get a oil catch can to solve that problem. They sell them at Summit Racing for $29.99 and come in three colors. I just wanted to dress up under the hood a bit.
because with my experience laying sprinkler systems, pvc is a pipe.
don't feel bad, i just figured this out too... there is a plastic tube that has the hookup for the ccv pipe built into it... there is a rubber hose that comes from the airbox that hooks to this plastic piece on one side and a rubber hose that conects the turbo to this plastic piece on the other side... you replace this plastic pipe with a piece of pvc pipe or 4" exhaust pipe... that way there is no hole to plug...

maybe a dumb question but... what is the pink foam looking materiral on the turbo side of the exhaust pipe right by the hose clamp...?
Bro, don't plug it up, it's supposed to be a BREATHER VENT, if you plug it you might be blowing out some seals. Come on man get with the program!
i don't think he was talking about the ccv hole, i think he meant the hole that is left when you take the ccv tube out of that plastic piece that it went into... like me i don't think he understood the description of the 4" exhaust pipe or pcv... there is no hole to plug when you replace that plastic peice with the pvc or exhaust pipe...
Listen johnny8 stop stressing man, just go to dieselinnovations .com click on NEW PRODUCTS and scroll down, they have a crankcase vent kit for you.
end of discussion.
