Prices have really come down. I'm looking at a 1600 PSI electric unit. On for half price right now. I think it's a Coleman. Just for general use and car cleaning. Any advice?
I just recently bought a gas 2500 PSI Excell from Home Depot, and wonder how I ever got along with it. I put these things in the same category as air compressor's for a must have. No advice on the washer itself, but be careful what you aim at, these little sucker's will take the paint off your house.
I just made a thread about this a couple weeks ago.
I'll see if I can find it .
I ended up getting a Karcher at 75% off retail from liquidator in Calgary.
Those electric ones are kinda weak. Just threw my old one away. I bought a Troy-Bilt® 2250 psi gas one from Lowe's on sale a few weeks ago for $234.

Thanks. Good reading.
How did we ever manage without all those modern conveniences?

I have ran an electric one, can't remember the brand, but it was heated/2200 psi, it worked alright. Nice not having to haul fuel to it. The one I have is way overkill, but for 800 bucks I couldn't pass it up. Landa with over 3300 psi, heat, steam, With the heat it will take paint off of a big trucks from from about 6 foot away.
Personally, I would try to get a pressure washer that is at least 2000psi and 2.2gpm of water flow. That seems to be the minimum for getting hard to reach places on a two story house and knocking caked-on mud off the truck. As far as gas being stronger than electric . . . Well that can be a trick question, kinda like which weighs more, a ton of gold, or a ton of feather's? If they're rated the same, they are the same.

Well, thats not your average 1,600 psi, $99 home-owner pressure washer either, is it? Which is what I was referring to.
Gas-powered was my only choice. I bought one at Home Depot, and while there, saw an electric one being returned by a dissatisfied customer. The clerk placed on a pile of 6 other returned units!
The one I got was 2400 psi w/ a Honda motor and 6 spray tips of different sizes.
The only drawback to buying this was having to spray the siding on the out-laws house this weekend
I would get gas. I have had two electric units and both broke very quickly. I have had a gas one now for a year and use it fir work and home with no problems. (except a laborer burning through 2 hoses on the ehaust.)
I just borrowed my father's 1600 PSI electric one. I was not impressed with the nozzle what so ever. The valve on the wand also decided to stick open. I'm definitely looking into getting a gas one.
We have a 1600PSI Karacher, and the pump has a hole in it. I hate electric pressure washers. This is the 3rd one we've been through in a matter of a few years.
I was given an electric washer that burned up rather quickly......they do have a duty cycle. I purchased a gas powered unit from Sears two years ago and it works great!
Picked up an 2900 PSI Excell at HomeCheapo a couple weeks ago and it's already being used more than I thought it would. It's got a Honda GX motor on it with a CAT pump. Was all set to snag a Karachar from Sam's Club but after a search on Google
