Corn on the Cob

What method do you use/whats your favorite way to cook corn on the cob? Standard boiling, on the grill or microwave? (I actually know people that prefer it that way)

Pull the silk off, but leave the husk on. Wrap with foil, place on the Barbi for about 15 minutes, turning 1/4 turn every 5 or so. Foil holds the moisture in, it comes out sweet and sort of smokey-flavored. To my taste buds, there is no better way to cook the stuff! (Seems to me we had a thread with a poll about how to eat the stuff last summer) -TD

A big pot of hot boiling salted water. Put the clean ear in for just a minute, some people say just a few seconds... The reason is that when corn tooks too long the starch(aka sugar) turns pastey and looses it's natural sweetness.

Then I put it on a plate and put lots of soft or melted butter on it and then sprinkle with a mixt of salt and Accent.(Japanese call it Ajishio, about 10% MSG), then pepper. Yum.

Alternatively I do the grill thing with cleaned corn still in the husk and dunked for a minute or two in water before putting it on the grill.

Just some of my favorites.

Boiling salted water for about 45 seconds, then melted butter with a bit of Tabasco in it... best on the planet.

I soak it in water for 24 in its original package (unhusked) then I put it on the BBQ Grill, turning every few minutes until cooked.

I remember in Virginia there were packets of spices called "CORN BOIL".

Never tried 'em, but they sold like hotdogs at a ballgame...

That cajun method sounds aweful good!!!!!!!!

I like it best on the grill after soaking in water for a while, but it is quick and easy if it's in the microwave 2 1/2 minutes per ear (shuck and all) and then pull it out, strip it down and apply butter. MMMMMMMM GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!

About anyway it comes is great though!

How long does it take on a grill?

I've been around for the soaking and the eating but not the cooking.

I give it about 15 minutes, wrapped in foil. You can smell it when it's ready, it has a wonderfully hot sweet smell to it. -TD

The question I have is why do some people peel the corn at the store? They leave a big mess in the store for the rest of us.
