I've got an 88' Supercab. It's really not big enough for our family, kids 7 & 9 getting taller. Were looking to upgrade the truck to an 01 or 02 model. We've looked at the Supercabs and while the kids said they were comfy back there, I don't know how long that would last. Not that much room back there. Are the S'crews capable of carrying four adults? I really don't want to give up my truck and go to an Expy type ride, but the family is growing and we need more legroom in the back. Nobody wants to ride in the back of my truck now and its cutting into fishing trips. Somethings gonna give soon. I'd really like to keep this next purchase around 15k or so. Any opinios
I fit 5 people in my '03 Screw with no problems. I was in a similar situation a year ago. We had a '89 standard cab truck. But my son was only 4 yrs old and 4 feet tall. All three of us couldn't fit inside well. I looked at extended cabs. It fit "now". But the way the kid is growing, mom would have to start going in the back seat. We opted for the Screw instead. I've fit myself, now 6 yr old, wife, and my parents inside with no problems for around the town riding.
I have an 03 SCREW and it is comfortable in the back seat. The 04 and up are not nearly as comfortable as the rear seat is narrower. Don't get me wrong, the 04 and up are nicer trucks but they screwed up with the back seat.
My 01 S'crew had the split bench in the front with the large fold down armrest/console. It could actually hold 6 adults in reasonable comfort. I just didn't like the short box, it was always too small, so I traded for an 02 SuperCab. The kids are still pretty small, so I can get a few more years out of it before they complain. You should be able to find a great deal on an 01/02.
I just got my 03 Screw and i'm glad I did. Plenty of room in the back seat.
I don't like the short bed, but as little as it gets used I can live with it.
Thanks guys. Were still looking, and no, and F250 Crew Cab is not out of the question. In fact it might be a better choice as we might be moving up a boat size in a couple years.
I have a '02 Super Crew and it works well for me. I don't utilize the bed as much as some folks, usually just deer feed or small "stuff". I had a '01 F250 Crew Cab w/short bed and PSD. Loved that truck, but it was too heavy to pull behind my motor home. Lots of room though! Good luck!
