[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-Jan-03 AT 02:42 PM (EST)]When i get my trick up to 50mph it will start to miss out or bogg out it wont die but it will slow down to about 25 and wont go any faster, also where is the mark on the pully in the front for the timing mark i found the one on the block just not on the pully thier like 3 down there which is it on. I have replaced the gas filter, air filter and assmebly, clean the carb, sparkplugs and pvc valve, but it has not helped i think it might be the timing any ideas would be greatfull.
I can't help you with our first problem but your timing marks will be on the harmonic ballancer. the big round steel wieght on the front of your engine.
The first thing I would do is get a Haynes or Chiltons repair manual and go thru the rest of the tune up proceedures for your truck. There will be diagrams and pictures there that will help a lot. If you still have problems get the ignition module and distributor pickup tested.
You can get OEM repair manuals on CD from the [link: motorhaven.autoanything.com|Online Store ]

You said you'd cleaned your plugs, and pcv....how old/how much mileage is on them, espessely the plugs?? why not just replace them with new, and the pcv too, they are not that expensive, also a new set of QUALITY wires will do wonders as well.
As far as timing goes don't worry about the marks..just with engine running,at operating temp, turn distributor clockwise until engine just starts to run rough then back off just a hair, lock it down & test drive, and if engine pings under accelleration just back it off a hair at a time until it doesn't, leave vacuum lines all connected during this procedure, and it might be a good time to check the condition of all of them, plus check your vecuum advance as well to see if its holding vacuum.
Thanks for the info guys but it too late it has thrown a rod and piston through the oil pan lol it turns out the truck was running on 6cylinders instead of 8 too much stress it broke down but thanks anyways
