those trucks are getting pretty rare, it would be a lot easier to find one and just paint it. good luck finding one with orinigal paint, in the colors he wants, and in good shape.
I live in Arizona and I had to fly to Oregan to get mine. I looked for 6 months here and never found anything. Keep an eye on that collector car trader search 70-79 crew cab, and crewcab...good luck
Just because a truck has been repainted, does not mean that you will not be able to ascertain the original paint colors of the truck. Older painters did not take such care in removing all of the paint like they do today. You can purchase brochures for the model year you get and in the process of refinishing determine the paint scheme that was originally on the truck. Then you purchase the appropriate colors blah, blah, blah... Better than a survivor (in my opinion.) If the paint is already in a state of disrepair, the owner may permit a careful series of tests to uncover the paint scheme that was originally there. Existing scratches may even be enough to determine that the truck originally donned the doo-doo two-tone look you didn't want as well. Hope this long-winded reply helped someone.
Good luck in your search That is a very rare truck.
I would be looking at any railroad, or other large corporation that would require that kind of truck.
Have to tried a few of the numerous web sites that allow Ad's for trucks & cars ?
A few days back i was driving to work an there was a military convoy heading north west on HWY 12....There was alot of trucks 6 Humvee's, 4 Deuces and a half and 3 pickup trucks....it caught my eye that these pickup trucks where 78/79 F250 Crewcabs painted Olive Drab/OD Green! I drove up to them in amazement that i missed my exit....but it was all well worth the site. Ide love to find out where they where heading...i belive it was a National Gaurd convoy heading to Fort Mccoy but ill never really know. Maybe try looking at any of the old militarty bases around your area if you have any and see if they got these trucks sitting around....theres one about 2 miles from where i live but i didnt find anything. Hope you all have better luck with finding one!

where are you located, and the one you saw is it for sale and in good shape?? well check elsewhere too, seems like alot of people are getting these from Oregon, I was trying to find something like classic trucks for sale online or something did not run across any like collector car trader and yall.
I have the laugh at the Oregon thing - I live in Washington and got my truck from Arizona. Yes, a lot were sold in Oregon but most were forest service or logging company trucks and are so beat up you wouldn't want one.
Think back to 1978-1979, nobody purchased the trucks to use for the "family". That just wasn't heard of. They bought the trucks to work with. Loggers, railroad companies, anyone who needed a truck and to haul 4 or more people at a time. They were used and they were used hard.
What you want to find is a farmers truck from the south somewhere. A lot had air conditioning and many were stored in covered storage when not in use.
You don't want one from the north, rust is a huge problem.
I know of a really nice 78 crew custom cab in Dallas but it does not have original paint and it is not white. It does have air but it is dealer air, not factory air. The guy wants just under $10k.
$ 9,750 1978 Ford F250 FORNEY, TX
FORD: 1978 F-250 Custom 4x4 4-door, 65,000 original miles, 2nd owner, 400 auto, ps, pb, a/c, short bed, very good condition, $9,750. 214-566-6272, TX. Category: Trucks & Commercial Vehicles Date Posted: 06/20/05
I paid a guy to go take pictures of the truck for me. I ended up buying the one from Arizona rather than this truck but this truck was nice. The guy who owns it is nice but can't email pictures (slow bandwidth and no digital camera).
