need Help with switch wiring
the strobe lights just have a red and black wire but the swich has White, Red and Black How would i hook that up???
here is a picture of the swich
thanks
here is the front and the back paper of the swich
I dont understand it
If you have a small load of only 1 or 2 amps, connect the red wire of the switch to the wire under the dash that goes to your power source. I am assuming you hooked one of your wires you have hanging to the fuse box?
The other wire hanging under the dash that goes to the strobes gets connected to the white wire.
If you only connect the red and the white wire, the switch will work but the light built into the switch will not light up. If you want the light in the switch to light up, then connect the black wire to a piece of metal under the dash.
If you hook it up like what I described, and the switch gets hot and smokes, then your strobes draw too much current and the switch can't handle it. That is why the instructions say for fog lamps and such, the switch needs to be hooked to a relay. The switch switches the relay, and the relay makes the lights turn on.
So see if you can figure out if the switch can handle the load. I don't see any specs on the package, so I am being conservative guessing it may be able to handle 1 or 2 amps.
so i bought this one if this is the wrong button i can still return it http://www.autobarn.net/pilplugstrob.html
the swich that came with the kit only had 2 metals sticking out ... the way it worked was from the strobe lights control box the black wire went to the bat the red went to the swich and then another wire from the swich to the bat

Hook the red wire of the strobe light module to the white wire of the new switch.
Hook the wire from the battery to the red wire of the new switch.
You can then hook the black wire of the new switch to a metal bracket or something under the dash for a ground.
