If the truck only stalls in drive, and not park or neutral, you might have a bad torque convertor.Especially if you have an O/D transmission. It means you might get the truck moving if you rev it up enough, but it'll stall when you stop at a light. If this is the case, it'll idle fine in park and neutral.
Hi. Recently on my 86 with the 460 V8 I had similar problem with engine stalling when put into drive. I found all my spark plugs had fouled and I wasn't getting enough spark from the duraspark box. After replacing these it was fine. Good Luck.
nah man all brand new plugs.... shyt you should have seen the ones that were in there lol, but myy uncle sayed it was the coil? cuz all the connections are clean now, but hte good news is that its only a 22$ part that he was talking about so yeah
Glad it was simple. This week mine would crank, finally start and blew cloud of black out the back and wouldn't stay running. Luckily the shop that rebuilt my carb last month towed and fixed it for free as the floats became stuck. So at least for now mine is running again...for at least the next ten minutes anyway! LOL
hah wow sounds like it needs a tune up, but your lucky oyu got it off easy ha but ryte now im working on my frigen rear tank! the line keeps snapping god dam and do you no how hard it is to keep dropping the tank?? o man, but 1 final thing is bad, the starter is a bitch! it keep slipping, my dad sayed it was something called a bending rod in it? i duno if can find the part for it or should i jsut buy a new starter uhgg
Hey skin........sounds like you're having way too much fun with your truck! The wife calls mine a POS all the time. No appreciation at all. LOL Well, depending on where you live you could try a salvage yard for another starter. Never did try and repair one myself. Usually just buy one and slap it in. But luckily this truck hasn't needed one yet. I sure hope the truck can't see this post and decide to follow suit with you......Anyway, hope yours finds the highway soon. Too hot here today for the road as it's 115 and I haven't recharged my a/c yet. Until nxt time........
