High-low Beam control

I've got a problem with my high low beam switch. The low beam goes out. I took it apart and discovered that carbon developed on the contact points. The plastic around the contact is really charred. I cleaned the contact points off. The problem went away for awhile but now its back. I've cleaned the contacts again but nothing works. Any suggestions?

I want to get a new high low beam switch unit for my Mazda '97 B2300. How similar are the Ranger and Mazda? Is the high low beam switch the same for both? Did Ford keep the same switch design over a few years?

Napa will have the multifunction switch for around 60 bucks.

Ford & Mazda are the same that year, not sure how long they used the exact same switch.
